From Graffiti Art Magazine to Galerie Le Feuvre: beginnings rooted in urban art
After almost 13 years working in the world of contemporary art and urban art in Paris, Jonathan Roze moved to Brittany, to Rennes, in early 2025.
After working for Graffiti Art Magazine, where for two years he met many artists and personalities from the world of graffiti and urban art, Jonathan Roze joined Le Feuvre gallery, a major player on the contemporary urban scene, at the beginning of 2014. The gallery now represents a dozen established French and international artists, including Invader, JonOne, Ella & Pitr, Adrian Falkner “Smash137”, Sowat...
Galerie Le Feuvre & Roze: opening up to contemporary and emerging art
Over the years, Franck Le Feuvre and Jonathan Roze - who became partners in the gallery - have opened up their programming to a wider range of contemporary artists, regardless of background or training. Their common denominator is that they are painters. They include : François Malingrëy, Julien Colombier, Diane Benoit du Rey, Jan Kolata... In keeping with this desire for openness, the gallery is also developing the “Faubourg des Jeunes Artistes” project, which consists of organising the first solo exhibition by young graduates of the Beaux-Arts in Paris. The programme includes works by Arthur Tiar, Garance Matton, Idir Davaine, Karolina Orzelek and Louise Janet.
Towards greater dynamism and openness: 2025, Jonathan Roze creates his own structure
In the course of 2024, faced with changes in the market and the evolution of their aspirations, Franck and Jonathan decided to put an end to the adventure of the rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré gallery. Continuing the story they had built up with Franck, Jonathan created his new structure in 2025, with the aim of promoting artists by organising exhibitions, of course, but also by working in situ, creating frescoes, collaborating with institutions and brands, and advising both established collectors and those wishing to start a collection.
Local roots are also an important element in this new adventure. It's no secret that the art world is hyper-centralised around Paris, and Jonathan's aim is twofold: on the one hand, to continue the work that's already been done and to present some of the artists he's already championed in Brittany. On the other hand, to provide exhibition space and project opportunities, in Brittany and elsewhere, for young Breton artists. Over the years, Jonathan has come to realise that relationships based on trust are essential if we are to build strong links with artists, collectors, journalists, local authorities and the public at large. It's this relationship that needs to be forged and nurtured in order to develop meaningful projects.
Spring 2025, the first artists are presented in Rennes
In April 2025, Jonathan continues opens a new exhibition space in the centre of Rennes, at 1, rue Leperdit. With this new gallery, Jonathan continues to build on the history he has already written, while at the same time seizing the opportunity to develop new collaborations.
The inaugural exhibition features works by five artists: three established names who are well known to the gallery's collectors, and two newcomers.
Alongside the concretes of Ella & Pitr, the oil pastels of Julien Colombier and the first oils on paper of François Malingrëy, we will discover the ceramics of Pia Chevalier and the dynamic creations of young artist Rosalie Maillard, a 4th year student at the École européenne supérieure d'art de Bretagne - Rennes.
The exhibition, featuring some thirty small and medium-sized works, runs until 10 May.
