MEHDI CIBILLE aka LEMODULEDEZEER
THE EXPRESSION OF A MODULAR REALITY

Le ModuLe De ZeeR... a pseudonym that immediately contrasts with those of most graffiti artists, which are intended to be as short as possible and rarely exceed five letters. The name itself contains an acronym for Zone Expérimentale d'Expression Relative. Its capacity for formal expansion is, therefore, already laid down in its designation. At the beginning of 2000, a strange reticular element, heir to the Hourloupe technique and the notion of logology initiated by Jean Dubuffet, appears in the streets of Paris at an altitude that intrigues observers and teases vandal painters and writers.

To be read in its entirety in the latest issue of Graffiti Art Magazine

__

Born in 1976 in Paris, Mehdi Cibille lives and works in Aix en Provence.
For his second solo exhibition at Le Feuvre & Roze gallery, Mehdi Cibille presents a series of works on handcut wood, between sculpture and painting. Preparatory drawings, sketches, photographs and works on paper will also be shown. Through this body of work, Mehdi Cibille deploys his compressed-decompressed universe, his famous Module that assembles and multiplies infinitely. The Module is the charcater which, repeated again and again, builds the wold (the image) from which it feeds to prosper. Mehdi Cibille, aka Le Module De Zeer, is know for his interventions in the streets of Paris. He has exhibited his work in the Agnès b. galleries in Paris and Tokyo, and was recently invited by the French Ministry of Culture to reinterpret the "Buren Columns" at the Place du Palais Royal (Paris), and to install his Seven Pillars in the courtyard of the Château Comtal in the heart of the Cité de Carcassone.
