Stefan Stanojević discovered painting through graffiti in the early 2000s.
Alongside his artistic practice, he initially pursued a career as a graphic and web designer, which nourished his imagination and developed his creativity. The use of graphic design tools, the creation of visual identities and charters, one of the characteristics of which is to be quickly recognisable, permeate his plastic and pictorial universe, both in terms of content (through the subjects dealt with, inspired by the pop universe) and form (thanks to the fairly bold colours and effective compositions).
Since the 2020s, Stefan Stanojević has focused mainly on painting, sculpture, mural painting and printmaking. As his artistic career has grown, he has been able to detach himself from the world of graphic design.
In his work, narrative compositions blend with abstract elements, whether repeated patterns or drawn lines, in a universe he himself describes as 'plasticism', displaying impressive mastery in its execution. For although at first glance one might think that his brush is computer-assisted, in reality this is not the case. His compositions are digitally developed, but only to the sketch stage. Once the canvas is stretched, Stefan Stanojević no longer uses any digital tools. Everything is done by hand.
With this rendering, sometimes reminiscent of porcelain and thus conveying his idea of preciousness and fragility, sometimes reminiscent of plastic, vinyl or oilcloth, Stefan Stanojević plays with the boundary between the physical and the digital. But far from being naive or simply pursuing aesthetics, the artist does not forget to evoke, like a visual storyteller, the issues facing our societies.
